“You’re looking for qualifications. You want someone who can teach today’s youth the performing arts. You want them to teach how to emote, how to project, how to sing, dance, act. I have some advice for you in your search, don’t just look for a teacher; rather, seek out not only a teacher, but a teacher who used such skills to survive.
Melodramatic? Perhaps, but not a lie. I learned my craft from the best. I was taught to not just perform, but to make the person watching me get pulled into the performance. If I failed…well, to be frank, I wouldn’t be here if I failed. My worth was measured in my abilities. If I was unteachable or ever lost my abilities, I had no worth.
This is what I have in my life, and this is my opportunity to take the one talent I was given and turn it into an actual worthwhile service...without the perversion previously attached to it.
